Mathematics Department Overview

The mathematics department at COHS follows the New York State Curriculum.  The Mathematics A and Mathematics B exams will soon be discontinued statewide.  The new state exams given after one year of instruction are Integrated Algebra (I.A.), Geometry (Geo.), and Algebra 2/Trigonometry (Alg 2).

Information regarding Regents Diploma Requirements for Mathematics can be found here

The following math courses are being taught at COHS for the 2008-2009 school year.  The NYS assessment for each course and the date that each class will take that particular assessment is listed (in parentheses) below the course.  If no state test is listed, the exam for that course is a local exam prepared by the teacher and given in June 2009.

Each student taking a math course is required to have his or her own TI-83+ graphing calculator.  The graphing calculator is an integral part of each math course taught at Cardinal O’Hara.  This calculator can be used on SAT and ACT exams, Advanced Placement exams, and in math classes at many universities.

Any questions concerning the mathematics program at COHS should be directed to the Guidance Department or to Mrs. Carol LaPre of the Mathematics Department.
