Social Studieshome
The Social Studies Department believes that since students learn in a variety of ways, materials should be presented to accommodate these learning styles. Methods of presentation would include lecture, large and small group discussion, debating, using various technologies, and others. The department also believes that a proper understanding of the social sciences will nurture the all important leadership skills that our students must have in order to make a positive contribution as knowledgeable citizens of a democratic society.

Successful completion of 4 years of Social Studies courses including:
- 9th Grade – Global History and Geography I (Full year course that concludes with a local final exam).
- 10th Grade – Global History and Geography II (Full year course that concludes with a Regents Exam in June on all material leaned from 9th and 10th grade).
- 11th Grade – United States History and Government (Full year course that concludes with a Regents Exam in June on all material learned from 11th grade).
- 12th Grade – Economics (Half year course) and Participation in Government (Half year course). (Both classes conclude with a local final exam.)
