OUR ACTIVITIES 2007/2008 SCHOOL YEAR

BINGO, BELL JAR & BINGO KITCHEN

Sunday bingo is sponsored by HSA.  All profits from bingo and bell jar are given back to the school.  HSA sells food & refreshments during bingo with profits used for the graduation reception and other events as needed.

BLACK & GOLD STORE

Operated by all volunteers, our store offers apparel, snacks, beverages, school supplies and books.  We are open for all major school events and we try to be open for as many sports events as possible.  During the week, our hours are 7:10 AM – 8:00 AM and 2:10 PM – 2:55 PM.  Hours are extremely flexible and can be only one time slot per month if you like! All of which make great Christmas and birthday gifts.

CHRISTMAS DECORATING PARTY

We share the joy of the birth of Christ by decking the halls & spreading the Christmas spirit throughout our building.  A light dinner of pizza and beverage is usually provided.  This is truly a fun night for the whole family!!

CONCERT SERIES

Refreshments are sold at several concerts presented throughout the school year as an HSA fund raising event.   Another great benefit is that you get to hear the wonderful concerts for free!

FATHER MERRICK SCHOLARSHIP

HSA funds two $250.00 scholarships for two senior graduates that are chosen by the Guidance Dept.

GRADUATION RECEPTION

HSA works with the Junior Class putting on the graduation reception.  We supply and set-up decorations, paper goods, beverages and facilitate making up trays and the serving of hors d'oeuvres with help from the Junior Class families.  The Junior class needs to supply all the hors d'oeuvres.

GRECCIO

The Freshman class performs a wonderful Christmas pageant with a reception that follows.   HSA supplies paper goods and beverages and facilitate the  serving of hors d'oeuvres which are supplied by the Freshman class families.

HOMECOMING / SPIRIT WEEK

Watch for this weekend in October!!!  One of the most fun weeks at school for our students.  Hawk Prides is EVERYWHERE and it's contagious!!!  HSA is involved each year at different levels based upon need.   The Black & Gold Store has everything you will need to get into this monumental school spirit event!

INK RECYCLING

To help the environment and raise funds, we recycle inkjet and laser jet ink cartridges.  Collect them from your home, church or office and just drop them off at the B & G Store.  Note:  we can not take "remanufactured" cartridges.

JUNIOR RING MASS

HSA works with the Sophomore Class putting on the graduation reception.  We supply and set-up decorations, paper goods, beverages and facilitate making up trays and the serving of hors d'oeuvres with help from the Junior Class families.  The Junior class needs to supply all the hors d'oeuvres.

PHONE TREE

HSA volunteers form the phone calling tree.  The phone calling tree is put in motion on an "as needed" basis to call family homes as needed arise by COHS and/or HSA.  The phone tree is a great communications tool to home.

SENIOR PICNIC

On the Wednesday before graduation, HSA facilitates the Senior Picnic.  We supply the hot dogs, rolls, condiments, paper goods and volunteers.  Senior families supply pop, chips, salad & dessert.

TEACHER APPRECIATION

HSA volunteers put on a full lunch to show our appreciation for the great faculty and staff at Cardinal O'Hara High School.  This is usually held in May of each year.  You will not find better teachers anywhere.  Tell and show them you care.

THEME TRAY

Our major fund-raiser of the year, this fun event involves the sale of donated baskets supplied by school families and the sale of refreshments. This one fund-raiser supplies the majority of funds needed to pay for the many traditional  and rites of passage events we are involved with.  EACH FAMILY IS ASKED TO DONATE A THEMED BASKET.
