World Languages

The World Language department at COHS teaches Spanish 1 to 5 and French 1 to 4.  All COHS students are required to take two years of one foreign language.  The majority of our students go on to study for a third year, fulfilling one requirement for the NYS Advanced Regents Diploma.  Many of our students continue their studies with the Level 4 and 5 curriculum, where they can earn college credit by taking the CLEP exam (click here for more information).

Incoming freshman who wish to challenge the Spanish 1 or French 1 curriculum will have the opportunity to demonstrate sufficient knowledge of the language through a placement test.

Individual course descriptions can be viewed here.

Any questions concerning the World Language program at COHS should be directed to the Guidance Department or to Mrs. Cheryl Steingasser,, of the World Language Department.
