Cardinal O’Hara High School is currently seeking candidates for the position of Principal to begin July 2022.
Essential Position Responsibilities:
The Principal articulates the vision and mission of Cardinal O’Hara High School and oversees the total educational program of the school and is directly responsible for the day-to-day operations. The Principal assures that annual programs for students, faculty and staff are planned, implemented, and evaluated in consultation with the Board of Trustees. The Principal is ultimately responsible for overseeing that the educational experience is consistent with the philosophy, goals, and objectives of the mission of Cardinal O’Hara High School. Reporting to the Board of Trustees, O’Hara seeks a Catholic, mission-centered educational leader who can continue the school’s pursuit of innovative instruction, faith formation, service opportunities, and competitive co-curricular programs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Must be a practicing member of the Roman Catholic Church.
- Current teaching and school leader certification issued by the State of New York (or in process.)
- Master’s degree in Educational Administration from an accredited college or university.
- Preferred minimum of five years of experience in a Catholic school.
- Strong knowledge of instructional and curriculum design best practices and a passion for implementing best practices and seeking continual improvement.
- Preferred minimum of three years in administrative experience in education.
- Adhere to the Diocese of Buffalo Code of Conduct.
- Completion of background checks and fingerprinting, Virtus Training
- Ongoing Professional and Faith Formation Development
Experience:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of educational leadership experience
- High School Teaching experience
Essential Tasks to Perform as Principal:
- Supervises and evaluates the teaching staff, ensuring that the proper elements of instruction are implemented.
• Supervises and Evaluates assistant principal and faculty
• Manages staff and program improvement processes, as well as teacher Professional Development Plans.
• Recruitment includes screening candidates, interviews and recommends the selection of staff; including teachers and paraprofessionals; assigns the teaching staff.
• Manages and edits the staff handbook.
• Interprets policies related to faculty, staff and students.
• Responds to and resolves complaints and grievances of students, staff and parents.
• In the absence of the assistant principal, disciplines students.
• Develops building objectives and procedures to facilitate the delivery of programs, student discipline, scheduling and recordkeeping.
• Coordinates various Diocesan and District programs with the regular education program.
• Supervises athletic events, evening school functions, and attends school-related community events.
• Manages field trips, out-of-state trips, and related transportation requests.
• Manages school safety and security processes including crisis management and evacuation procedures.
• Manages, analyzes and interprets data, including assessment results, for school improvement purposes.
