Celebration of the Life and Service of Phil Haberstro
The family and friends of Philip L. “Phil” Haberstro IV will honor the former executive director of the Wellness Institute of Greater Buffalo on June 26, with a day of celebration and physical activity he would have enjoyed.
Haberstro, who died Nov. 18, was part of the first graduating class at Cardinal O’Hara High School and founder of the Wellness Institute, which promoted well-being across the region. He led the effort to make Buffalo an All-America City, and for decades was a familiar organizer and presence at community health fairs, health conferences and walks.
In his last few months, he reiterated his desire for two things: that others continue to keep the Wellness Institute thriving as the legacy of his life’s work and support his beloved high school alma mater.
The events on Saturday, June 26 – centered at the high school at 39 O’Hara Road, Town of Tonawanda – are designed to do just that.
