About World Languages
The World Language department at COHS teaches Spanish 1 to 5. All COHS students are required to take two years of one foreign language. The majority of our students go on to study for a third year, fulfilling one requirement for the NYS Advanced Regents Diploma. Many of our students continue their studies with the Level 4 and 5 curriculum, where they can earn college credit through NCCC, taught here at O’Hara.
Incoming freshman who wish to challenge the Spanish 1 or French 1 courses will have the opportunity to demonstrate sufficient knowledge of the language through a placement test given at COHS in May.
Any questions concerning the World Language program at COHS should be directed to the Guidance Department or to Mrs. Cheryl Steingasser, csteingasser@cardinalohara.com, chairperson of the World Language Department.
